Gebbia is a hamlet of about six houses occupied by a small Italian community, and for some of them the village is their weekend residence only. The local people are part of the scene and are wonderfully generous of their time and friendship. If you speak a smattering of Italian, they will readily engage you in delightful conversation about the locality and it customs.
The village is approached by a country road from Civitella through woodland, much of it sweet chestnut. Casa Del Tramonto is in an idyllic situation, on a promontory, 500 metres above sea level, surrounded by vineyards and olive groves, the countryside dotted with almond and fig trees. In season, truffles and wild mushrooms are found in the woods. The road from Civitella, ends in the village, so there is little traffic noise.
